Helping to raise children
with big hearts and minds

Welcome to Bolsover Infant
& Nursery School

We hope you find all the information you are looking for on our website.

We hope we can give you a flavour of what it is like to be part of our school community. As an infant school, we meet very young children at the start of their educational journey. As a result we believe it is important that we are ENGAGING children, parents and families in learning right from the start.

Our Learning Heroes

What are Learning Heroes

Learning Heroes are Bolsover Infant and Nursery School’s way of supporting our very young children to understand what learning qualities are, and a way of helping them demonstrate these qualities in their own behaviours. They are role models who encompass the desirable qualities needed to be ‘Good Learners’. They give children an age appropriate vocabulary to talk about how to work well together, how to stick at their work and achieve in their learning.

Who are the Learning Heroes

We have lots of Learning heroes including: The Behaviour Buddies: Mr.G.Raffety, Manny and Marty the Troublesome Twins, Zeb and Hooty, as well as our Learning Leaders: Target Tom and Mr Bewilder, Stickman, Winnie Wilford, Starla Start-Bee and our collaboration friends, as well as our Curriculum Companions: Professor Who-Believes, Exploreasaurus, Detective Dom, Mr Make it and Reggie Look it-up.

Dear Parents

Bolsover Infant & Nursery School - COVID Updates (bolsover-inf.derbyshire.sch.uk)

In the COVID folder there is a letter from the local authority to parents, please read it carefully. The key worker list is to follow, but if you think your jobs role is on the list and you can provide the appropriate evidence, then please send a message to your child's class teacher via SeeSaw.

The big piece of information, in the letter, is that each key worker child, and/or vulnerable child who has already been offered a place, needs to be offered a full time place. This is a government decision, confirmed by the LA and shared with you via us.

If your child will be attending school we would encourage you to ensure they are wrapped up warm with a range of layers on. It is very cold with all the doors and windows open and they will need vests, t-shirts, jumpers etc (even if they are not school uniform), they need to be warm and comfortable.

Home Schooling

For those of you with children at home, blended learning will begin next week. The teachers are busy making videos ready. We will be in touch in the coming days to keep you up to date with our learning plans.

Nursery Parents

We have made the decision to keep our nursery open for all children (this is within government guidance). There are many reasons for this, but the over whelming decision was because its what's best for many of our youngest children. So, we look foreword tomorrow, to welcoming back any of our nursery children who wish to attend.

FSM Children

If your child is entitled to FSM you may order a hot meal from the school office, this week and collect it at 11.30am from school. From next week we will be providing 2 week hampers which can be collected next Tuesday between 1.30pm and 3pm. If you wish to order a hamper and have received a FSM text, please contact Mrs Stone to make an order. Until the government make any announcements about centrally funded vouchers, this will be our preferred method of offering support.

I will keep you up to date with information, as and when it comes through.

Thanks Fiona x
