Welcome to Bolsover Infant & Nursery School

Welcome to Bolsover Infant & Nursery School. We hope you find all the information you are looking for on our website.

We hope we can give you a flavour of what it is like to be part of our school community.

As an infant school, we meet very young children at the start of their educational journey. As a result we believe it is important that we are ENGAGING children in their learning from the start. Whether that be DEVELOPING their basic skills or interesting them in the world around them, encouraging them to be creative or sporting, we encourage all children to give their best. We aim to INSPIRE children to want to learn and helping them to develop the confidence to EXPRESS this in a range of ways.

Learning is definitely fun at Bolsover Infant and Nursery school.

We look forward to showing you around.

Yours sincerely

F Cowan

COVID-19 Update for Parents

Saturday 16/5/20

Just a quick message after yesterday’s madness and then I promise no more until next week (other than bedtime stories). I just wanted to put peoples mind at rest.

We have taken legal advice, HR advice, Health and Safety advice and have listened to Unions. Our plan has not changed from Thursday.
We believe we had devised the safest plan for our staff, children and families and we will be sticking with it. No, we won’t be offering everyone full time (except V and KW’s etc), but we will offer face to face meetings for every child soon. A plan that can be scaled up at a point that everyone feels we are ready. A new normal!

We are waiting for updated risk assessments Tuesday and then we will share, but please remember our plan is about children’s social and emotional development and safety, not child care. So for those that need to return to work, which we completely understand is a worry, please can you start thinking about social bubbles (as per government suggestions) for your child care, this will help when we start looking at who and when children can come in to school.

Please remember our moto this week and why we are doing it this way:

‘Staff, Children and family safety first.’

We will ‘stay alert’ to this and only this.

BTW- Staff aren’t at the front of this moto because they are of higher importance, but if they catch COVID, we all catch it COVID, which is a stark reminder of why this needs to be done right and why we/I have agoniser over this for hours.

Plus, as a school and as educationalists when we have your children we are ‘in loco parentis’ which means we ‘take the place of a parent’, we do what we do to keep your babies safe because it is what we would and do do, for our own.

PLEASE Stay safe x
